Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE)

The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) is designed to allow students to earn credits by exam. CAPE certifies the academic, vocational, and technical achievement of students in the Commonwealth countries. The examinations address the skills and knowledge acquired by students under a flexible and articulated system where subjects are organized into one-unit or two-unit courses. Who is eligible to study for CAPE at Shan-Phill Training?

At Shan-Phill training, we provide our training services to the following individuals:

  1. Individuals who have completed form five and wish to further their studies.

  2. Students who wish to study a CAPE subject(s) that is not being offered by their local tertiary educational institution.

  3. Individuals who are at least 18 years of age who did not complete secondary school education.

Entrepreneurship

Overview

Entrepreneurship seeks to empower students by providing the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to achieve entrepreneurial success in a variety of settings. It places emphasis on the individual’s acumen to realise opportunity, assess risk, and apply the skills necessary to transform innovative ideas into viable, sustainable ventures. The CAPE Entrepreneurship syllabus provides students with the mindset that supports creativity and innovation needed to transform ideas into ventures that create value and wealth. The syllabus is divided into two (2) Units:

Unit 1: Entrepreneurship Theory

Module 1 The Entrepreneurial Mindset

Module 2 The Entrepreneurial Process

Module 3 Creativity and Innovation

 

Unit 2: Entrepreneurship Practice

Module 1 Essentials of Business Ownership

Module 2 New Venture Planning and Creation

Module 3 Managing and Growing the Venture

 

UNIT 1 ONLY, will be offered for the said period September 2023 to May 2024.

Students will be assessed on UNIT 1 only during the exam period May/June 2024.

Unit one will be taught as follows:

Unit 1: Entrepreneurship Theory

Module 1 – The Entrepreneurial Mindset - Semester 1 (September to December)

Module 2 – The Entrepreneurial Process - Semester 1 (September to December)

Module 3 – Creativity and Innovations – Semester 2 (January to May)

Revision for exams - Past papers – Semester 2 (January to May)

This textbook provides comprehensive coverage of units 1 and 2 of the CAPE Entrepreneurship syllabus.

 

Note: We mainly offer subjects that allow students to write the Alternative Paper to the School-Based Assessment (SBA).  Click here to register.

Important note: Persons who will be writing CAPE exams in the following year, must visit their local Ministry/Department of Education during the month of November of the academic year to register for the June exams.
